Trust is one of today’s significant weaknesses of electrified propulsion technologies. This fact is the result of a conflict between an old, but well-known, technology of combustion engines and huge uncertainty in batteries. In addition, the “Green Deal” starts to get into action, and several regulations require a rethinking. The solution to getting out of this challenge is the creation of a “maintainable battery” with openness in its performance, which allows the same level of trust in the battery as in the combustion engine. This would be fully compliant with future EU legislation, build trust in used car customers, and foster new business models or a battery supplier.
