Dr.-Ing. Marcel Weil is the head of the scientific research group “Research for Sustainable Energy Technologies” (RESET), at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), and working group leader at Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Marcel's extensive research portfolio encompasses Sustainability Assessment, Life Cycle Thinking, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Ecological Engineering. Currently, Marcel leads the 'Energy System 2050' project and manages the subtopic 'Life Cycle Sustainability of Energy Storage and Grids' as part of the Helmholtz project 'Energy System 2050'. He also assumes a pivotal role in overseeing the 'sustainability' dimension within the German excellence cluster 'Energy Storage Beyond Lithium' from 2019 to 2026.
